Given the high demand for tablet on the second half of 2012
which exceeds previous estimates, the market research firm International Data
Corporation (IDC) has increased the estimated delivery tablet of 106.1 million
units to 107.4 million units.
In a press release, Apple stated if the tablet is known as
the iPad will still lead the market which stood at around 62.5% market share,
an increase from the previous year which stood at 58.2%.
While Android's market share is expected to decline slightly
from 38.7% in the year 2011 will be 36.5% in 2012.
Furthermore, IDC also revised its forecast for 2013 from
137.4 million units to 142.8 million units. While the tablet shipments in 2016
is expected to reach 222.1 million units.
"Demand remains strong for the tablet, and we see an
increasing interest in the category of the commercial side," said Tom
Mainelli, research director, IDC Mobile Device Connected.
Tom Mainelli is also estimated that delays in new products
from major players, the main device that will increase affordable. The
large-scale promotional activities of Microsoft said about Windows 8 will lead
to greater interest in the category until the end of this year.
