Identified, New Android Malware on Google Play

The threat of malware seems to continue to lurk Android device users. Recently the leading vendor of security software, Symantec claiming that it had identified a new malware that has been posted on the market application Google Play.

There are two popular titles that allegedly have been infected with malware, the Super Mario Bros. 3 and GTA Moscow City.

In his official site, Symantec said that the two applications that have been posted to Google Play on June 24. Since then both claimed the application has been downloaded about 50,000 to 100,000 times before it was identified.

"What is most interesting about this Trojan is the fact that the threat was managed to settle in Google Play for a long time, until the number of serious download before it was discovered," said Irfan Asrar quoted as saying by the official site via Symantec.

"Our suspicion is that this is likely to be loaded remotely carried out by this Trojan," he continued.

According to Irfan, the technique had actually been discussed since last year, in which a malicious application makers will split into a separate.

In this case the malware (Android.Dropdialer) masquerading as popular games such as Super Mario Brow Moscow City and GTA 3. Once installed into the device, the application will send an additional package to make it more difficult to be detected. Additional packages are said to have been posted on Dropbox and is known as 'Activator.apk'.

Fortunately, after receiving notification from the 'Symantec' related to the present invention, the Android Security immediately remove the threat.
